More Along the Lines of Graphic Illustration.

When I think of an Illustrator, I think of a naturally artistic individual who can pick up a pencil and illustrate a “life-like” image in perfect realism, and that’s definitely not me.

I create digital, or graphic illustrations, using a combination of methods, including specialized illustration programs. These programs allow me to use different techniques to get different results, that I simply could not do with paper & pencil.

So What's The Difference Between Illustration & Graphic Design?

The line is blurred, but I would say that illustration and graphic design can be differentiated by how and where you use them.

Illustration, to me, results in fine art whereas Graphic Design leans more towards commercial advertising. A good way to think about it is to ask yourself if someone might hang the work on their wall. If the answer is yes, then there is a good chance that it’s in the Illustration category.
